I have the TC8717T modem and there is no way to get into it using the IP address 192.168.0.1 or any other IP address. I need to do port forwarding that I had set up through my router and nothing worked. So I connected directly to the cable modem, rebooted it, and still no way to get into that modem. Checking ports on the modem....they are being blocked. I called Spectrum and they told me because I do not subscribe to WiFi on that modem is why I cannot get into it because they put it in bridge mode when you do not want the wifi. And the only way I can change that is to exchange it for a MTA modem that is a modem only with telephone jacks. Reading some post in here, I see that other people have that same modem without WiFi and they seem to get into it and can work with port forwarding. What straight modem without WiFi would be recommended because it seems I will never be able to get into the TC8717T so I can forward ports. My router is and ASUS RT AC1900P.

Port Forwarding Issue Router RAC2V1K
Hello there,
I've had serious difficulties in setting up point forwarding for my router, a RAC2V1K. I'm able to set up most of the prompts without difficulty, save for one: Public IP. Whenever i attempt to, the prompt is always greyed out and hitting the refresh button does nothing.
Because of this i havent been able to have the port be detected by outside sites. Is there anything i can do?
Thank you
Spectrum RAC2V1S missing function
I am a long time TWC customer, over 15 years. I recently switched my account from an old TWC plan to a Spectrum plan. First of all, I am saving $150 per month with practically the same set of services (internet, TV, phone line), except the internet is even faster. That's a bunch of months that I paid too much. I wish I had known to call sooner.
With the new Spectrum plan, I was required to change equipment. The old equipment was a Ubee router/modem combination. The Spectrum plan uses an Arris cable modem plus a separate router. The router is branded Spectrum RAC2V1S, but it is a Sagemcom F@st 5280. You cannot find documentation for this router. Thankfully, one of the moderators on this forum pointed me to some help for configuring port forwarding.
When I changed the account plans, Spectrum overnighted the new equipment to me, with no directions and no timetable. I expected to install the new modem and router, then call for activation. Not so. Spectrum reprovisioned my service without warning during the middle of a work day while my old equipment was still installed. Obviously, the internet and phone stopped working. I had to drop everything and begin to set up the new modem and router, plus software configuration for the router and my devices.
The router works well for what it does. With speedtest.net on a wired connection, I can get 420M down and 23M up. I can set up a 2.4G wifi and a 5G wifi. That's about it. The port forwarding is clunky. VLANs are not supported. NAT loopback is not supported. I have been unable to get the router to recognize my bridged access point, which worked great with the old Ubee. So, if you have a minimal home network with a few wifi devices, the Spectrum equipment is fine. I have requirements for VLANs, QOS, full NAT support, port forwarding, additional access points, etc. I am not running web servers to the internet, but I do have cameras and file servers and other equipment that I need to access from anywhere. I understand that I am not paying for a high function business service with technical support and SLAs. However, the Spectrum provided equipment is a step backwards. Yes, I am getting more speed for less money, but I am sacrificing function that I need.
I asked my local Spectrum store if I could get a better router. They said "there isn't one". Looks like it is time for me to purchase my own router. I'm sure that some of you must be power users more than I am. I would appreciate your recommendations for a high function 1G (or faster) router that works well with the Arris TM1602 cable modem.
Thanks,
Rick
Update firmware of Netgear CM1000
How do I get spectrum to push the firmware update of the CM1000 to my cable modem? I asked over live chat and they said they do not do that. Anyone have any ideas?
Spectrum Internet with Netgear Nighthawk WIFI Extender
I just got spectrum's internet and phone because AT&T could not provide the bandwidth compared to spectrum. My main (Spectrum) Router/Modem resides in the garage in the middle of the house. I have a Netgear Wifi extender in the house which provides all of the all automation equipment (Smarthings hub, insteon hub etc. as well as wired ethernet connections (TV, Directv, Insteon Hub etc). I also have a netgear switch which handles all of the traffic of these wired devices and has one cable going to the netgear wifi extender. The Netgear wifi extender is not that far from the main router. Signal is great but with the 2Ghz and 5ghz extending the 2 ghz keeps crashing causing me to have to re-boot the extender and sometimes the spectrum router will need a reboot becasuse the 2ghz is not working. Is this a common issue with this spectrum equipment and the netgear routers? Do I need to get a different extender that is more combatible with spectrum equipment? My Television which is hardwired will stop working with Netflix when this issue happens and it is hardwired via ethernet.
Will the belkin n600db router be compatible?
Trying to set up a Smart TV - need WPA/WPA2 password/key/pin
I thought it was just our wifi password but it's not taking it. We have entered every possible number that we see on our router. I've attempted to log in to our router online and haven't been able to access it - have used 'admin' and our wifi password. Any tips?
1st gen Apple TV connected to wifi but Netflix, Prime, etc will not load
Hello,
I'm a new Spectrum customer and am having issues getting my 1st gen Apple TV working. It's successfully connected to wifi with a strong signal but I cannot get Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc...to work at all. When running the network test it fails. Same for my smart TV. All of this worked flawlessly with my old ISP just a week ago. Support has not been helpful. When I log into the router and can see both devices connected. I have also tried both 2.4 and 5ghz frequencies to no avail.
My brand new Apple TV works just fine.
Any help is appreciated.
Unable to connect more than two devices to wifi
Arris TM1602 modem and Arris TR4400 router - need help port forwarding
I recently was upgraded to the above equipment. Prior equipment I was able to set up to port forward 5 internal IP cameras and it worked great. Even though I have set up the router to port forward the same IP and port addresses I get nothing externally. I can see them all internally but nothing external. I have exhausted what I know to try and could really use some help. I can find very little information about the above 2 anywhere, so I am asking for help here. Thank you for any ideas!!!
Getting Internet (First Time) some (Q's).
Hi.
I am planning to order Internet service cable from Spectrum next month.
Never used an ISP. Normally use free internet from StarBucks or local Library.
Start off with the 200 Mbps plan. Will buy AsusRt-Ac66u_B1 router and use Spectrum Modem for connection.
ENVIRONMENT:
Currently have 1 room on 4th of 20 floors in NYC. Apartment is very small. Very crowed/congested area.. Many wifi signals outside of building. Will have only 1 connection (Dell XPS 13 4gb Ram, 256 SSD) laptop. No printer.
INTERNET USE:
Heavy TV/Video streaming on a HDTV using a new Nvidia Shield Android box. Prefer no buffering.
Surfing, moderate downloading, some video streaming and application development on PC.
(Q):
Will Spectrum send out tech support to my apartment for installation? Extra charge?
Considering my environment, do you suggest I use Wireless or Ethernet connection?
Any suggestion for maintaining a strong internet signal. i.e. hardware (different router), increase Mbps etc?
Thanks.
TC.
Have Cable TV connected to wall outlet. Will need to connect Modem for Internet.
Hi.
I have Spectrum Cable TV box connected to my apt wall outlet using a coax cable.
Will be recieving Internet service from Spectrum in about a month.
Will rent TWC Modem and buy AsusRt-Ac66u_B1 router for a self-install Internet & wifi.
From reading the Forum, It appears I will need a Splitter to connect both TV box(receiver) and Modem.
On Spectrum tech support page they write: “A splitter weakens the signal level. This can cause intermittent loss of service or, in rare cases, complete service failure.
We recommend connecting your modem or Spectrum Receiver directly to a wall outlet rather than using a splitter. “
3 Questions:
Does Spectrum self-installation kit provide the coax spltter & coax cables for their Modem setup?
If Spectrum suggest not using a splitter (stated above) what other alternatives do I have for setup?
How are other members signal connecting the splitter with Cable TV and Modem?
Thanks.
Can I set up VPN on Askey RAC2V1K Wave 2 Router
So I now have the Askey RAC2V1K Wave 2 Router connected to the Technicolor E31T2V1 modem.
I see a VPN set up option under Security on the router page..........I have a NordVpn subscription, so would I be able to use it on this router?
Authorized Devices on the Spectrum Network
You can also use your own router to connect to In-Home WiFi rather than a Spectrum-issued router. We recommend a 802.11ac router with a built-in gigabit switch. Learn more about approved equipment.

Use my own modem and router.
I have the triple play package (Voice, Internet, Cable) So tomorrow they are coming out to install a new router/modem cus I upgraded to the 400mbps to play 4k movies and games. Before my internet was so slow using the TC8717T it couldnt even load a 4k movie and i was paying for 100mbps. I wanted to see if i could use my own router and modem, my dillema is the modem i want to use has no phone line connection. Can i still use it I dont care about the phone cus we all use cell phones in our apartment. The modem is an Arris SB6190 and the router i want to use is the Linksys WRT32XB.
Gateway time UTC
Why does the Gateway time UTC show different than my local time zone UTC? My local time zone is Central DST (-6 UTC) but the Gateway time shows -5 UTC. I have a Sagemcom router/Gateway/modem.
thanks,

unknown and known devices connected to wifi just after having changed the password
The client list in the wifi router (ubee) lists unknown devices in the client list connected via wifi. So I changed the password and changed it in only one of my machines. After this the client list still shows unknown & known devices with the known devices not yet knowing the new password. I rebooted the router. Of course I hit refresh multiple times. No change. How can this be?
Modems,& Routers for TWC telephone and internet that work with MOCA
I am trying to set up a M?OCA network. I have the combined Modem Router TG 1672. I was told by tech support all I have to do is go into the modem and check the box that says enable MOCA. Went to Airris website got into the m odem Nope box is there but will not let you click it. Contacted their tech support and he said Airris does not support MOCA on any of their modems. So.... What to do? Can I buy my own modem and then split the signal going into the original modem and use their modem for phone router and mine for the moca network? Or ????
Thanks in advance
PS what modem would be best suited for the purpose?
WiFi Range Extender?
The wireless Linksys router is positioned in the living room of the main house which is located about near the center so the signal is pretty good anywhere you're at.
I have a guest house in the backyard but the electronic devices cannot pick up the wifi signal. I have a laptop back here which is about 50 feet away from the wireless router. Will a wifi range extender help in this situation? I want to get good internet connection and speed as I do in the main house but not sure if a wifi range extender can accomplish this.
