GIG Service Issues with ORBI Router

So I recently upgraded to the GIG service.  Kissed my $199 g'bye!lol

Anywho, now I'm having issues coupled with my ORBI router.

Setup -

Spectrum Cable Modem #E31T2V1 connected to a ORBI router.  Router has two of four ports conntected to an iMac and PS4.

Issues -

1) iMac does not recognize the ethernet cable connected.  This set up was the same before i upgraded to the GIG modem.  Worked flawlessly.  Oddly enough, the ethernet that's connected to the PS4 works fine.  I've tried to switch cables and iMac still does not recognize the cable.

2)  DirecTV that's connected to the satelite ORBI router does not get internet.  Checked ORBI settings and its has internet connectivity.

I've called Spectrum tech support and they said there's nothign they can do since I'm using an ORBI.  But as i mentioned before, this exact same set up worked with their prior cable modem.

HELP!

Netgear AC1900

I see several approved Netgear modems on Spectrum's approved modem list but do not see the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 or the NETGEAR CM500V in the list. Does anyone know if they are approved for Spectrum to connect for internet and LAN phone service?

Conflicting ISP address

So we have the exact same desktop and 2 laptops. But now we have to constantly reset router/modem  that they gave us to use.  { Arris.}.. If someones is inside with a cell phone or tablet it connects fine. We have a  roku to  watch Netflix.   Connects fine. But if   someone is on the internet and we connect one of the computers it says conflict in isp address.

( These all connect thru  wifi... )    and then you cannot connect anything untill you reset the router/modem. I't was  not doing before.  This is something that just started in the last week. And I don't know why.

Hello,

Just moved into a new apartment complex and I noticed that there are ethernet jacks on the wall plate where my coaxial connectors are throughout the entire apartment. What are these ethernet jacks for? Are they for some other service or can I use the wiring?

Forgot to mention, the complex is Keystone at James Landing.

Thanks

E31U2V1 DOCSIS 3.1 Advanced Voice Modem, no WPS and only 1 ethernet port vs. DirecTv connection

Short version - I´ve been trying to connect my DirecTv Genie (HR44/700) to my network. I´ve been through both sets of directions to connect - wireless and wired.  When I ran the DTV error check, it kicked out the following diagnostic code - 71-73-94-053. I am reluctant to call customer service since my last call was spent saying ¨no¨ over and over to the representative trying to up-sell premium channels, etc instead of making the appointment for a tech to reset the dish.

I´m not sure what else to do at this point. My in-home wifi is working.

Background - After connectivity issues, I was provided a new modem, the E31U2V1 DOCSIS 3.1 Advanced Voice Modem.   Currently, there is a direct (DTV) cable connection to the back of the modem. A NETGEAR R6700 NIghthawk router is plugged into the only ethernet port on the back. There are 2 telephone ports, but that´s it. There is no WPS button. The modem came with a Quick Installation Guide book, but it is not useful. I can´t even find the modem listed on Spectrum´s site. The technician who installed the modem had to call in for help with the set-up since it was new to him as well.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Unable to Port Forward uncommon ports

I've been trying to port forward ports (like 6398, for a custom program I wrote, and 9987, for a voice chat server for friends and myself, but despite opening every port on my router to the server machine and having firewall rules on that machine set for those specific ports, only common ports, like 53, 80 and 443 are accessible for incoming traffic. I spoke with a T3 tech on the phone today, and he couldn't figure out exactly why this wasn't working. My previous thoughts were that Spectrum was blocking ports, but he assured me that it's not something they can do, even at the T3 level. So, he told me to crowdsource the solution and post here. If anyone has had experience with this issue, could you please help out?

Thanks

EDIT:

Thought I'd include the hardware I'm using, in case that becomes relevant, and because they aren't Spectrum issue.

Modem: Netgear CM-1000

Router: Netgear Nighthawk X6 - (ALL PORTS FORWARDED)

Server: Windows Server 2012 - (Relevant Ports Forwarded, 80 and 443 accessible from outside, 21, 6398, and 9987 are among those that are not)

Askey Router Chromecast Compatibility Woes

Hi Everyone,

I just switched to Spectrum Ultra Internet over the weekend, although the download speeds are great I’m running into significant issues with the provided Askey router (Spectrum Wave 2) when it comes to getting my chromecasts working correctly.

Basically, I can only cast for several minutes after the router is rebooted. After that period my phone doesn’t see any of the chromecasts anymore. I suspect is as to do with AP isolation, which is one setting I can’t find on the router configuration page. A quick google search shows I’m not alone in dealing with this issue.

Has anyone had success getting their Chromecast to work with the Askey Spectrum router?

I should mention I have the first gen Chromecast models, not sure if that makes a difference.

A thought I had was to use my old TP-LINK Archer C2 router which has wireless AC capabilities in conjunction with the Askey router. I tried disabling DHCP on the Askey in order to make it act like an access point since I’m impressed with its range, it’s a lot better than my TP-LINK router. But it doesn’t have an access point mode built into the configuration.

If anyone could share how to bridge an Askey router I would be forever grateful.

Thanks!

Router issues

I recently went and bought a router so I could get WiFi. I bought an R6220 netgear router. I’ve set it up, followed the install instructions to the T, but it isn’t getting internet access, or drops the connection as soon as I go to finish the install. The only fix I’ve found is unplugging the Ethernet cable from the modem and plugging it back in. Doing it from the routers end doesn’t seem to fix it, so I was assuming it’s an issue with the modem. When I am able to connect and try to finish it, it doesn’t obtain the physical address, subnet mask, or gateway address from the modem. I’ve tried manually entering but it still fails. Is this an issue I’d have to call spectrum about? Possibly bridging or allowing the device anyway? I’ve already spent roughly 2 hours with netgear to no avail.

Unable to Connect Google Home Mini

I'm unable to add a Google Home Mini to my Spectrum Wi-Fi.

I complete the setup process via the Home app properly, but it tells me that it can't "communicate with the device" on the network.

I've tried various troubleshooting posts I've seen online (it seems like this is affecting a good number of Spectrum customers... there are a handful of recent posts on Google Support), contacted Google Support (they say it's Spectrum), and contacted Spectrum Support (they say they've never heard of such a problem & sent me a link with Google's standard instructions to install).

Things I've tried so far:

  • Changing the name of one of the two networks (I have a 2.5 GHz & a 5.0 GHz)
  • Connecting to both the 2.5 & 5.0 networks
  • Ensuring my router settings are in line with Google's recommendations, including disabling AP Isolation
  • Hard resets of routers, Google Home Mini

Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes here?

unknown and known devices connected to wifi just after having changed the password

The client list in the wifi router (ubee) lists unknown devices in the client list connected via wifi. So I changed the password and changed it in only one of my machines. After this the client list still shows unknown & known devices with the known devices not yet knowing the new password. I rebooted the router. Of course I hit refresh multiple times. No change. How can this be?

Modems,& Routers for TWC telephone and internet that work with MOCA

I am trying to set up a M?OCA network. I have the combined Modem Router TG 1672. I was told by tech support all I have to do is go into the modem and check the box that says enable MOCA. Went to Airris website got into the m odem Nope box is there but will not let you click it. Contacted their tech support and he said Airris does not support MOCA on any of their modems. So.... What to do? Can I buy my own modem and then split the signal going into the original modem and use their modem for phone router and mine for the moca network? Or ????

Thanks in advance

PS what modem would be best suited for the purpose?

WiFi Range Extender?

$

The wireless Linksys router is positioned in the living room of the main house which is located about near the center so the signal is pretty good anywhere you're at.

I have a guest house in the backyard but the electronic devices cannot pick up the wifi signal. I have a laptop back here which is about 50 feet away from the wireless router. Will a wifi range extender help in this situation? I want to get good internet connection and speed as I do in the main house but not sure if a wifi range extender can accomplish this.

Port Forwarding

I have a new Spectrum (Sagemcom) F@st 5280 router, connected to an Arris TM1602 cable modem.  I can access the router setup to change SSIDs, passwords, etc.  How do I enter port forwarding information?  This is the first router I have seen that does not have a straightforward table menu for defining port forwarding.  For example, the older Ubee modem/router was easy to configure.  I found the User Manual for the Spectrum 5280, but it does not have the level of detail needed.  Sagemcom website says that there is a Router Setup manual, but I cannot find one anywhere.

Has anyone configured port forwarding on this router?  I would appreciate some help or a pointer to technical documentation.  Thanks.
